Group Training Walk
For all ages & temperaments
Details
WHAT During your on-leash walk, you will be guided through a local park with various trail environments to practice your dog's polite walking and neutrality around other dogs and people. All dogs will be kept apart and not allowed to interact with each other. We will conduct "pass by exercises" around the other owners, maintaining a safe distance between each pair. Although a Certified Dog Trainer will be present to offer pointers, each handler is responsible for managing their own dog. Please note that this is not a training class, but an opportunity for owners to safely expose their dogs to others and practice socialization from a distance! DID YOU KNOW? A portion of our proceeds are donated to West Coast Paws Rescue https://www.wcpdogrescue.com GOOD FOR - All training stages & temperaments & ages - Socialization from a distance - Practicing leash manners - Practicing engagement - Practicing neutrality around distractions FEATURES - Personal & tailored instruction - On leash only environment - Desensitization & Counterconditioning - Dogs are kept apart - Pass-by exercises - Walking games - Neutrality Training BOOKING - Book online or contact us SCHEDULE - See our booking calendar for all of upcoming classes (updated regularly) - Classes open from March - October WHERE Westshore area - Location varies - see our booking calendar for specific class details SAFETY Dogs of all temperaments are welcome to our classes including fearful, reactive and aggressive dogs. To ensure a safe learning environment, it's important to maintain a respectful distance between your dog and other handler teams, unless otherwise directed by the instructor. Dogs with a history of aggression, nipping, or mouthing must be muzzle-trained, and owners are required to bring the muzzle to each class or participation will not be allowed. Handlers should wear comfortable footwear and dress appropriately for the weather. When using rewards, please do so away from other dogs to avoid distractions. PLEASE NOTE: Owners and their dogs are participating at their own risk. DON"T FEEL EMBARRASSED We are all in this together, as a group we are here to encourage and support each other and all of the dogs. No one should feel embarrassed if their dog acts out and is reactive, our purpose is to help them learn new ways of coping and alternate behaviours.
