Terms and Conditions

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of www.focuscanine.com (the “Website”), any purchases made through the Website, and all services, programs, and resources provided by Focus K9 (“the Company,” “we,” “our,” or “us”). By accessing the Website, booking services, or using any free or paid resources, you (“the user,” “the client”) agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, you may not use the Website or our Services.

1. Intellectual Property and Website Use

All content on this Website—including text, graphics, images, videos, digital downloads, e-books, and training materials—is the exclusive property of Focus K9 and is protected by copyright and intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, modify, sell, or republish any content without written permission. All resources are for personal educational use only.

By using this Website, you represent that you are the age of majority in your province or have legal consent to allow a minor to use the Website. You agree not to use the Website or its Services for unlawful or unauthorized purposes, including transmitting viruses or harmful code. Any violation of these Terms may result in immediate termination of access to our Services.

2. Accuracy and Availability

We make every effort to provide accurate and current information; however, we do not warrant that all Website content is complete, error-free, or up to date. Information may be changed or updated without notice. The Website may contain historical or general information that should not be relied upon as the sole basis for decisions. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue any content or Services at any time.

3. Assumption of Risk, Liability Release, and Training Disclaimer

By participating in any Focus K9 service—including private training, group classes, socialization sessions, training outings, public park sessions, dog walking, drop-in visits, adventure walks, and pet sitting—you acknowledge the inherent risks associated with animal behavior and the presence of other dogs.

You agree that Focus K9 and its representatives, including Sydney Lemiski, are not liable for any injury, illness, incident, damage, or loss affecting you, your pet, property, other participants, or third parties, before, during, or after any service. You accept full responsibility for your dog’s actions at all times.

Training results cannot be guaranteed. While we use proven professional methods, outcomes depend on many factors outside our control, including environment, behavior history, and handler consistency. All Services and products are provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind.

4. Safety Requirements

Clients must disclose all behavioral concerns, aggression, medical issues, bite history, anxiety, and safety risks prior to beginning any service. Dogs must be current on required vaccinations, including rabies, and you acknowledge that no vaccine eliminates risk fully. Training may occur in public environments with unavoidable distractions, wildlife, and other dogs.

Clients agree to follow all equipment and safety recommendations from Focus K9.

5. Booking, Cancellations, and Rescheduling

​

Private Training

A 50% non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking to secure a private training program. The remaining 50% balance is due after the client’s second session, regardless of scheduling delays. Private training sessions may be canceled or rescheduled with a minimum of 48 hours’ notice. Failure to provide notice results in the full session fee being charged.

Training Outings

Same day cancellations or missed sessions are charged in full. 

​

Group Courses

Group courses require a minimum of 7 days’ notice prior to the start date to receive a refund or credit. Once a course has begun, no refunds or credits are available for missed classes.

​

Dog Walking, Drop-In Visits, and Adventure Walks

These single-day services require full payment prior to the appointment. Same day cancellations or no-shows are charged in full.

​

Pet Sitting

Pet sitting requires a non-refundable deposit to secure dates.

  • Standard bookings require a 25% deposit, with the remaining balance due no later than 1 week prior

  • Holiday bookings (Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving) require a 50% deposit, with full payment due within 2 weeks of booking

A minimum of 1 week's notice for standard bookings and a minimum of 2 weeks notice for holiday bookings is required to cancel or modify pet sitting reservations. After this period, the full balance is owed. Once service begins, no refunds or credits are available for early return or schedule changes.

​

Failure to Provide Notice

Cancellations made late after the required notice period or or clients who are more than 15 minutes late to their booking result in the session, service, or booking being charged in full. Outstanding balances accrue 20% interest after 30 days.

6. Refunds, Credits, and Product Returns

All deposits are non-refundable. Once a service begins, no refunds are available. If a client discontinues a service, remaining sessions convert to a credit valid for one (1) year.

Pet Sitting
All pet sitting deposits are non-refundable. Once service begins, no refunds or credits are available for unused days or changes in schedule.

​

Products
Physical items may be returned within 14 days if unused, unworn, in original packaging, with tags attached. Digital products (e-books) are non-refundable. Items damaged by pets are not eligible for return.

Refunds (if approved) are processed within 10 business days.

7. Payments, Deposits, Travel Fees, and Equipment Responsibility

  • Private training: 50% deposit at booking; 50% balance after session 1

  • Single-day services: Paid in full before the service

  • Multi-day pet sitting: 25% deposit required; within 1 week

  • Holiday bookings: 50% deposit; full payment within 2 weeks

  • All deposits are non-refundable

  • Deposits must be paid within 72 hours to hold dates

  • Travel fees apply for services outside Focus K9’s designated service area

  • Behavioural fees for dogs exhibiting reactivity, anxiety or aggression may apply

  • Clients are responsible for any equipment; lost or damaged items are billed at full replacement cost

8. Dog Walking and Pet Sitting Terms

To ensure safe and consistent care:

​

Eligibility

  • Dog must be crate trained for pet sitting

  • Dog must be house broken for pet sitting

  • Dogs with separation anxiety are not accepted for pet sitting

  • A consultation is required for all new clients

  • Dogs must be vaccinated and healthy at time of service

  • Pet sitting bookings may not be made more than six (6) months in advance

Veterinary Billing Requirement

Clients must have a credit card on file with their veterinarian to authorize emergency treatment. Focus K9 will not be responsible for any veterinary bills under any circumstances.

​

Pet Sitting Includes

  • Evening check-in (4–7 PM)

  • Overnight stay

  • Evening break

  • Morning break

  • Mid-day break

  • Evening checkout (4–7 PM)

  • Two feedings daily

  • Three structured breaks including play, enrichment, and reinforcement of manners

  • On-leash neighborhood walks only (Adventure Walks are an additional service)

We reserve the right to decline or discontinue services if safety concerns are present.

9. Medical Emergencies

If an emergency occurs while your dog is in our care and you cannot be reached, Focus K9 may transport your dog to a veterinarian or emergency clinic at its discretion. You are responsible for all veterinary and transportation costs, payable within 30 days.

10. Third-Party Links

The Website may contain links to third-party sites not affiliated with us. We are not responsible for evaluating the content, accuracy, or policies of such sites and assume no liability for third-party materials, products, or services. Accessing third-party sites is at your own risk.

11. User Submissions and Feedback

Any comments, suggestions, ideas, or submissions you provide may be used by Focus K9 without obligation to maintain confidentiality or compensate you. We may remove content that is unlawful, offensive, or violates these Terms.
