Every trainer here learned our method as a client, practised it beside experienced trainers, and earned each new responsibility. The result is a team that teaches the same way, with the same standards, in every class and every session.

The Trainer Pathway.
Six stages, in order. You move forward when your skills are ready, not on a fixed calendar.

LEARN
Graduate from Our Programs
Before you teach our method, you live it. You complete a Focus K9 program with your own dog and show the skills yourself: handling, timing, and reading your dog. That gives you a working foundation, not a theoretical one.

LEARN
Shadow and Volunteer
You watch private sessions, group classes and Training Outings from the inside. You see how a trainer reads a dog in the first few minutes, adjusts a plan on the spot, and coaches an owner who’s frustrated or overwhelmed. This is the part of the job that books don’t teach.

LEARN
Work as an Assistant
Now you’re hands-on. You handle dogs, set up exercises, help manage groups and assist owners between the trainer’s instructions. You take on more responsibility as you prove you’re reliable, consistent and safe.

LEVEL 1
Train Group Classes
This is your first role as trainer. You run classes on your own, managing a group of dogs at different levels and keeping every owner progressing. It builds the presence and timing that every later stage depends on.

LEVEL 2
Move into Private Training
You work one-on-one, assessing the dog, building a plan around the owner’s lifestyle, and carrying it through to the program’s goals. You’re responsible for the result as well as the session.

LEVEL 3
Take on Behavioural Cases
This is the most demanding work we do: reactive, fearful and anxious dogs, where reading the dog and making safe decisions matter most. Trainers reach this stage only once their experience and judgment have been proven in the stages before it.

Become a Trainer: Common Questions
Tell us about your background in the inquiry form. The pathway is built to develop trainers from within, so we look at your skills, reliability and way with dogs and people, not only your resume.
What happens at each stage? You graduate from our programs, then shadow and volunteer, then work as an assistant. From there you start as a group class trainer, move to private training, and later take on behavioural cases.
How long does the pathway take? There is no fixed timeline. You move forward when your skills, consistency and client handling are ready for the next stage.
What tools and methods do you use? Methods are chosen for each dog after assessment, based on their behaviour, temperament and your goals. We practice the LIMA method of dog training and explain everything before we use it. The dog's wellbeing and peoples safety come first.
Is the pathway paid? Shadowing and volunteering come first. Hours and pay for assistant and trainer roles are discussed with you as you reach those stages.
